CRAZY WEATHER

yep we stayed put for another day here in round rock...if we wanted to leave yesterday we couldn't--roads were closed all over.. the ice wasn't as widespread as last week and it seemed like we were in the middle of it...so we just  had a laid back day...also the truck was not wanting to start..seems like someone I know left the keys in the truck turn on and also the lights...not to mention names or put the blame on anyone  but just take a guess.

seems like there is crazy weather all over..see on the weather this morning that atlanta was closed down also south Carolina..go figure...and some say there is global warming...where?????

on the move this morning not sure where we might end up..have several options it all depends on the what strikes our fancy

ROUND ROCK

we arrived in round rock on friday after a trip that should have taken 1 1/2 hr but took us over 3..why you might ask...due to the weather --when we left Waco the roads were ok but the further south we went the yucky they got and the traffic was just bumper to bumper for nearly all the way to round rock...we could see where they had gotten snow along the side of the road and the roads were coated with heavy layers of sand...when we finally saw matt and Lindsay they told us that the roads had been closed till around 10-11 (we left Waco at 11)..matt needed to go to work as he is a landscape manager and needed to get some clients driveways salted but he told Lindsay she wasn't going anywhere..by afternoon the roads were clear and dried up..

on sat we were going to meet aaron and sarah at the salf lick in driftwood for lunch..there is a cabela's in the area so lar and matt wanted to go there first so off we went....they both bought bulletts so they were happy campers..

then off for b-b-q we were to meet aaron and sarah at 2 got there put our name on the list for 6 and waited till after 4 to be seated--but it was a great day and they had picnic tables so we just sat outside visiting and drinking beer...finally after we were all starved it was time to eat and yep it was very good...

yesterday sunday  matt made us a big breakfast --then Lindsay and I went shopping and lar and matt had a electrical project to do...all that got done then the 4 of us took another adventure to the store ikea...I like shopping there..

today laundry--haircut--heb shopping (grocery store) reminds me of wegman's but I like it better...can you believe they even have happy hour from 3-7...and sell beer in the grolliers you have to be into beer to know hat that is but it is a half a gallon of beer in a jug that you can bring back to be refilled

tomorrow we think we might be heading out for can you believe more ice-sleet-2 inches of snow maybe more in the forecast so we need to stay put..we are high dry and warm so why be out there in more yucky weather..

WACO, TX

we left Arlington  (near dallas) and headed to Waco, tx where we knew there was a wal-mart to get one of lar's prescription refilled..we had tried in Alabama but they wouldn't fill it cause of NY..for some reason they couldn't transfer it (it sure isn't a controlled med only a beta blocker)..he had enough for  3 more days ...we headed for an army corps of engineers park where we have stayed before and is very nice..anyway we went in the wal-mart and got a very good pharmacy assist...who did some research and said oh they could fill it and it would be about 1/2 hr ..so off we went shopping to get milk---etc...we thought maybe we would have to call the dr's  office for them to call in a new script just one more hassle but she took care of it and we were all set..

on the  way down to Waco lar started to not feel so good his body was aching and his nose running away...didn't even eat lunch but took a nap..to bed early and sometime in the night he woke up just wet from sweat and by the time we got up he was feeling fine almost his old self..

yesterday we had to go get a propane tank filled but have also been hearing about a winter storm watch of rain-sleet-ice-snow---by the time we got back to the rig by 2pm it was raining with some sleet mixed in with it...by the time  we got inside the rig everything was  covered with ice...so everything worked out fine got our errands done and settled back in the rig before the weather really hit hard...have heard on the news this morning that I-35 had all kinds of accidents on it and that's the way we need to go this morning ..so we will have to check the map to see where it might be...before taking off on our way to round rock

HISTORY DAY

first  kof course we got up and had breakfast then it was time to get on the road to see the sights...

looking at maps we needed to kinda figure where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see before we gave this info to "toots"...the dealy plaza didn't open up till noon on mondays so we first started with the George w bush library...which we found to be most interesting and full of people due to martin luther holiday..there was  a lot to see and some of it was hard  toooo many people wanting to see the same thing..but we spent over 2 hrs there ...we could remember a lot of what happened during his term...

then on to lunch and the dealy plaza..now if you don't remember that is where president kennedy was shot in 1963....we started on the top floor and thought we paid 14$$ each for this a large opened room with few pictures  and windows to look out of..we had been given a cassette tour player thing and listening to it we thought this just doesn't match..so down a floor we went then we could use the tour guide thing...lots of stuff to see and look at and also to jog our memories as to what had happened and all that went on during that time...

so today was a memory jog for us and we were alive during this happenings...especially lar  cause he was stationed at fort Andrews when they took the casket carrying kennedy off the airplane and he saw it all happening...lots to read and remember..

now it was time to fight the dallas traffic and make it back to our campground..going and coming hasn't been too bad and maybe cause we arrived on a sunday and today was a holiday and lots of people had to day off and went shopping ahha..

glad we did both  things..tomorrow we hope to meet up with a habitat friend from mason..

life is still good --god bless..

DALLAS

we are now outside dallas in a town/city called Arlington with the plan to go to the George w bush's library tomorrow...I started driving first this morning  because I really don't like city driving with the rig so it was better if I was going to drive I do it first..good choice as the road was good and not much traffic..but of course the closer we got to dallas it picked up a tad..

arrived at our campsite around noon which we had planned didn't ant to be driving in heavier traffic thinking maybe most wouldn't be on the roads much before noon...we are staying at a carefree resort which honors military at half price so it is a good deal..

the weather hass been good the last couple of days there hasn't been a cloud in the sky nice and blue..when we first started to put are travels in place we thought maybe we would have to change our plans to go to dallas as they can get some good winter weather and we didn't want to be part of a snow storm...we just watch the weather channel to keep track of it..

sorry no pictures still haven't figured it out yet..

TRAVELS

since I posted if I remember right we have been in lots of places..we had a good visit with steve white and ginger  & Melissa....

we ended up in gulf shore state park for a couple of  days doing odd jobs on the rig and  laundry-shopping-etc...most of the time catching up on adds and ends that have needed to be done...

then on the lousiana for only a couple of days traveling thru..wanted to spend more time but we do have a schedule..yesterday on the other side of baton rouge, la we came to a stop due to an accident on the interstate so we pretty much came to a hault..the fastest we went for an hour and half was 10 mph...we wanted o know what was gong on so we hooked up the cb radio...that was an accident where an tractor trailer went off the road and hit a tree... and yes indeed it hit a  tree and it went right thru the cab of it...we had heard on the cb that the driver walked away and we sure hope so but by the look at the truck you'd never know why except that if so the good lard was looking out for him...we heard that the back up was at least 15 miles long..and we believe it..so we pulled into the campground we were headed to  after 6pm...so it was a long day..

today we are now outside dallas by about 150 miles and tomorrows plan is to move on to a campground for a few days so we can go to the George bush library and to the dealey plaza where john kennedy was shot......

so all's well with us except for some reason I can't post pictures...oh well...life is good

UPDATE

as you read what lar posted for some reason we are having some sorta of problem with pictures..yo mem or Christine got any ideas????

we have visited the jimmy carter center/library very simple and not flashy but tells the story about jimmy a very humble man..we of course learnt stuff we hadn't know before jimmy and if we did we had forgotten..there was a very small picture of his involvement in habitat...

after visiting with jimmy we went to the martin luther national historic site.. when we arrived there was also 3 tour buses that had just unloaded so the small place  was very full..they went into watch the movie and there was no room for even a couple more people so we waited they were done then we watched it...it is a small building  but there are also other building scattered around that are part of it...we got a stamp so that was good..

then we headed to bneua vista, ga to visit steve, ginger and Melissa...sat was a laid back day as  there were tornado.s  watch/warning in the area and we had very heavy rain and high winds that caused waves on the pond..the football team of the local school won the state championship in their class of school and Melissa was a cheerleader so we had lots of football talk..on Monday there was a congrats pep rally at school at 9:30 we  attended that before getting on the road...it was fun..ginger is also a member of the school board..so it was an exciting event for the whole community..

this is just s highlight of what we have been up-to in the last few days...

FIRST SECOND DAY

well we are finally going to spend our first night in the new rig...left yesterday sat at about 9:30 am and the driving was kinda slow out of ithaca til we got to 17..then the roads were clear and dry but it was windy...at the first rest area we sropped we wanted to check to see how everything was riding and couldn't open the door,,we thought oh my it is frozen so we bought some de-icer sprayed the door...guess what it didn't work..we we call the aod assistance service we have on the rig..told them our problem and said we were going to stay in a motel last night..we were told call when we get there and they woukd send someone to help us out..got to the motel..lar banged on the door a few times and believe pr npt the door finally opened up..there seems to be a problem wsith the deab=d bolt..so we just didn't lock it today...seems like we might need a new door lock.. today we had planned on stopping at the woodrow wilson presidential library in stauton , virginis guess what we called and they didn't open up till noon...so it was decided not to wait till noon so we kept going...got on interstate 66 and started up a hill and it started to rain and then icy-slushy-then saw cars heading in the wrong direction on the highway lar had already dropped it down to 20 30 mph and we drove this speed for about an hr...he even noticed some slipping but he kept it steady and we were ok...after we got down off the mountain then it was just rain and heavy at times... so a 5 hr drive day turnekd into an 8 hr day... arrived at campground about 6:30 now to set up..new we rig that we haven't used before is all new and different so it has taken us more time that usuall..but right now it seems as thou we ar all set..and it is only 8:15pm almost time for bed...but i guess we will enjoy a glas of wine and something to eat before.. all's well with us and have thanked god several times that he as been with us over these not so good roads.. sorry no pictures yet as we haven't taken any haah
