VELVET

last week while we were eating dinner we see a deer out in the back just slowly making it's way to the back yard so of course we have to see where it is going...now don't you know it caomes rright to the apple tree right by the back door...it is helping clean up the fallen bird food...it has about 3 inches of spikes right now and are in the velvet as you can see...little does it know that it could be inside the house on the dinner plate in a few months....

WILDLIFE AT OUR HOUSE

we have been watching a robin's nest all spring or since we have gotten home...the robin builds a nest in the yew bush right outside our front door so it has been easy to watch them grow up...this is not the first year she has build a nest in the same spot (we think it is the same one but who knows) anyway it has been fun to watch them...as yu can see they have grown over the weeks..but this morning when i went out to take a picture ther was only one in the nest but one a short ways hidden in the bush but i caught it..so the family has grown up and are now fledging (birds leaving the nest)...momma robin is on the ground just a chirping away wanting them to f
follow her so she can show him how to look for worms or whatever they like to eat...just so wonderful how life begins and the little ones learn from their parents and then become adults and the process starts over again...life is good

FARKLE

i know some of you play farkle so you'll understand this blog...the other day after lunch we decided to play a game of farkle before we went back to our projects )what ever they were)..the game was going along well for me as i was on the board and had 7,500 points and lar had not even gotten on the board at all yet...we both kinda joked about it and said the only way he was going to was to roll 6 of a kind and get 10,000 points ..so guess what he did!!!!!! we both just looked at each other and laughed...never of course guessing that he would...we have played this game since caroline and tony taught it to us in spokane..so we have seen many games roll away...both of us have gotten 5 of a kind before but never 6...so i guess that is why it is worth a picture and a blog.... still haven't gotten the garden plowed it has been too wet around here...we get a drying day then it rains some so that job is still on the back burner.. try to get the lawn mowed in between rain sure don't want to to get away with itself and become a hay field then we would have to get the local farmer to mow and bail it ahhaha....

ANOTHER ONE!!!!

wednesday morning at 6:45 lar got his second one turkey that is...this one is a tad smaller than the first one and took him awhile for it to come to his decoy but the horny old guy finally did and bang he will be in the pot...again lar went across the road where he knew that was another one and the other day when i was hangingclothes on the line i could hear one just gaggleing up a storm..a wee bit foggy this am but not enough for old eagle eye to spot the bird...so i guess we will have a coupld more meals for the table this year... we have finally gotten the roads cleared up from the snow storm now it will be time to work on this next years supply of fire wood....this was a good year for not using much wood nor oil...as it was a mild winter ;so there fore the use was down..that helps the pocket book so we can spend it on other things... we have gotten some much needed rain as it is dry due to not much snow melt..our spring which is usually way up in the spring is down a couple of inches or more ..that's telling us that we do need rain...of course right now we have NO idea what the summer will be like and won't know till it is over and done with... i have gotten our veggies sets and now to get the garden plowed and rototilled so it can be planted....and then wait till the fresh veggie are ready to eat can almost taste them and the seeds aren't even in the ground yet...wishful thinking i guess... all's well here
in enfield...
