we are now back in enfield after being gone for 3 1/2 mths...it is kinda good to be back but we have been welcomed with that white stuff on the ground..ugh and we thought we left that in January when we got out of town but I guess mother nature wanted us to get some more...
we had a good winter did lots saw lots ..visited with lots of friends/relatives along the way..we even got to enjoy some sun and warm weather which was nice but I guess our turn will come to upstate ny just when is the big question..
got home filled the bird feeders and not too many birds have come yet but we have a good sizes deer that has been eating for the bird feeder..so I guess it is getting it's treats..we have seen 5 in the back yard so the winter must not have been too bad for them...our pheasant has also returned along with his lady friend..we have seen him for about 4 years now and I assume that it is the same one cause we have only seen 1 male...
now it is time to think about cleaning up the yard and deciding as to what to plant in the garden..also tend to firewood..so I don't think we are going to get bored right away..also have a couple of weekend trips planned along with some family reunion's to fill in the gaps...
oh my it is really snowing hard right this minute as I look out the window and type this...
good to be back and life is still good...

CAVE CITY, KY
after leaving the fort smith area after all the storms had gone away we left town ourselves...heading east..we saw lots of flooding along streams-rivers-fields the results of the day before storm...not many trees nor damage which w as good..
we ended up staying at a sam's club in Jackson, tn..for the most part it was quiet after 8pm and the traffic slowed down..by the time we got up in the morning there were 5 other rv's in the parking lot...
we even went inside to of course ask permission if we could stay the night in the parking lot yes was the answer as long we were sam's club members which we are..then we bought dinner..a chicken easy and not difficult to prepare cause it was already cooked and ready to serve..still have left overs..
the next day we ended up in cave city, ky and the plan was to go to mammoth caves and yep a national park..we have been here before but we didn't work on badges then so we thought why not it is just 5 miles away...so off we went to the park..it sure looked different than when we had been here before so we asked a ranger..oh he said the visitors center is only 2 yrs old...no wonder we didn't remember it the way it is today...glad because we thought oh my why don't we remember...
so we worked on the badge and received..
lar had noticed that when coming in there was a sign green river ferry so we took a ride to see what it was all about..it is a free ferry that goes across the green river and only holds maybe 3 vechiles...so off we went to ride the ferry..got off took a short ride in the country turned around and went back to the ferry and took it back across...exciting and free..the river is very brown and fast flowing and we figure due to all th rain they have received over the last few days...campground owner told us they had gotten over 8 inches in 2 days..and is thankful we are on a hill cause the water just runs down hill jut like home...
tomorrow on to the Louisville area to visit with lar's brother doug and sister in law iris...

T/STORMS
we decided to stay another night here in fort smith and it was a good thing..lots of severe storms in the area and even tornado's further east...some heavy rain in the morning but by afternoon early evening it really started to rain and hail......the funny thing or maybe not so funny it was time for bed and I got into my night gown then the storms started up again..lar said you had better get dressed again cause you just never know what might happen...so we watched the weather channel for the next hour or so and watched where the storms were heading..after about an hr it appeared that the storms were a tad north of us so we went to bed...it did rain some in the night but nothing too severe that we were aware of...
so we move on today...

FORT SMITH, AR
arrived yesterday here in fort smith, ar area and of course today we were off to visit another national site and to earn another badge..we were not sure what made this fort was important for but now we know...it was built to help keep peace on the Arkansas river....
it is also where the trail of tears ended..
there also was a judge that took control over the area ..he would sentence bad people to be hung but he never watched a hanging...we also was in charge of women's rights etc...
there was big jail and barracks at this fort...
we are in a severe t/storm watch for later tonight so we will keep track of the weather on the tv..we may also stay another night depending on what happens tonight...only time will tell...at the fort the ranger saw were we were from and asked us if we keep track of the weather ..of course we said yes...so he said that was a good idea...not sure if there is a tornado shelter where we are at right now ..

OKALHOMA
WE MADE IT TO ELK CITY ,OK AND THERE WAS ONLY 2 SPEACES LEFT IN THE CAMPGROUND WE HAD PICKED TO STAY...OOPS and the other one next tp us was also from ny but I think I have mentioned this before..
so the next day we headed off the WASHITA battle field where custer did some damage to the Indians...(what a bad man he was)...we saw the movie which was an eye opener then off to the museum and of course we earned our badge...all this is interesting and to see what has happened to our country back in the old days..
then off to the national route 66 museum...spend over 3 hrs there..not only was there a route 66 museum but also a rodeo museum--farm machinery museum--transportation museum so for the 9.00 each it was worth the money...both of us had achey legs by the time we were thru..alot of standing and walking around .there were also lots of out buildings like food store-library-barber-pharmacy-etc...so we got our exercise yesterday..
this morning we hit the road by 9 with the plan to go to van buren, ar and tomorrow go visit a fort...the name of it is fort smith..not exactly sure what fort smith was famous for but I will find out tomorrow..
life is still good across this USA we live in
